Water Mist Fire Protection System
Fogmaker is a high-pressure fire suppression system for engine compartments and enclosed spaces. This water mist suppression system has a unique extinguishing performance as it both cools down and chokes the fire, at the same time as the foam additive effectively prevents the fire from reigniting.
The Fogmaker suppression system comes in a range of agent tank sizes that can be fitted on vehicles such as Graders, Loaders, Dozers, Underground Machines, 4×4’s, Buses, Generators, Compressors, Cranes, Trains, Forestry Machines; practically most machinery with a semi-enclosed space.
The Fogmaker system comes in many options of volume and size. Each agent tank can be coupled together for additional discharge time or an increase in the number of nozzles.
Fogmaker utilises innovative patented high-pressure technology that is 2-3 times more effective when compared (by weight) to gas and powder systems. The patented construction permits the agent tank to be mounted vertically, horizontally or inverted in narrow spaces to save on real-estate. This is also an important security factor where the system is installed in vehicles that are exposed to the risk of rollover.
The actual Fogmaker cylinder is a self-contained unit requiring little ongoing maintenance. It is smaller, lighter and more compact than conventional foam fire systems and can take up as little real estate as a 9 kg portable extinguisher. The agent tank is anodised, high pressure and corrosion protected for harsh environments, with the distribution network primarily stainless steel with brass nozzles. Options for activation include automated (pneumatic activation), delayed, manual or a combination of all. In most cases, there is no need for specialised brackets or fabrication. Due to noise control and environmental obligations, engine compartments are being built with sound and suppression enclosures. Noise control has meant engine compartments are more frequently being enclosed with sound suppression. In turn, engine compartments are getting hotter, and this is where the AFFF Mist System Work best.
The Fogmaker suppression system is typically installed in less than one working day. The installation is carried out by our service technicians or by one of our many certified installers that are available nationally.
Fogmaker systems have a hugely successful track record in Australia, Europe, USA and Africa – over 150,000 units have been sold worldwide since 1995. Fogmaker Australia is 100% Australian owned and operated. We have offices and dealers throughout Australia.
The Fogmaker system is AS 1851 approved by Standards Australia, 2014; ISO 9001:2008, approved 2009 and ISO 14001:2004, approved 2013.
Detection and activation take place hydro-pneumatically — a pressurised detector tube burst in case of fire. The drop in pressure activates the valve on the extinguisher.
The pressure indicator located on the detector cylinder will give an alarm to the operator to indicate deployment. The system operates independently of power supply.
- Due to the patented construction, the extinguisher can always be fully emptied
- The extinguisher can be placed horizontally or vertically
- Patented construction – “piston accumulator.”
- Cooling and smothering water with AFFF
- Options for Antifreeze extinguishing agent (-35° C)
- Minimum requirements for cleaning up after a fire
- Anodised, high-pressure containers, corrosion protected for even the harshest environments
- Mechanical, manual and automatic actuation.

Discharge tests were undertaken with a 3-meter discharge hose. The following results are an example of expected discharge duration. Increased length in hose and stainless network would result in decreased discharge duration.
